November 19th

Thirteen Farnham Young Quilters made a Christmas tree door hanging on Saturday. They learnt how to make four flying geese from one large square and four small ones. The geese were then sewn together and a trunk added. They backed it with a thicker cotton and the thin wadding supplied by Vlieseline to make them firmer.

A good afternoon was had by all! See our gallery.

October 10th - Frensham British Legion Hall

We held a successful workshop playing with fabric paint, transfer crayons, stencils and glitter. The aim of the workshop was to give the children knowledge of different ways they could make marks on fabric rather than making a finished article. Great fun.

May 29th  - Lord Pirbright Hall,  Pirbright

We had a good morning making nine patch cushions, the children were very enthusiastic with three bringing their own sewing machines. It was encouraging to know that one of the children who brought her own machine has a mother who doesn't sew. How good is that??!!

The Coates fabric was lovely to use and the children loved the designs, some time at the beginning of the session was spent checking 1/4" seams and some at the end using the spare fabric to start some special care baby Quilts.

The large samples made a back and 5 x 3 1/2 " squares and as the samples are 13 1/2 " wide that was the size cushion we made. We managed to source some cheap 35 cm cushion pads so they could all go home with a completed cushion.

See the project pages for instructions for making our 9 patch cushions

January 17th Farnham Maltings Exhibition

We made hanging birds, the instructions for making have been put on the website by Kathryn Grieg. We used sequins and beads for the eyes and felt 'feather' for the tail. Well done to all that took part.
